SiMS is developed using 4th Generation software and uses smart object technology. Smart objects are modules of reusable software. Considerable time and money has been spent ensuring that SiMS benefits from the latest technology without being a complete pioneer.
Users need a good reliable, easy to access system which requires little support and maintenance. For the most part our current users have few if any personnel dedicated to supporting the SiMS application and hardware. TMA have always attempted to keep that vision in perspective. This does not mean we are standing still.
Future Developments
We are currently looking at a future release of SiMS which is totally Web Enabled. This means that you will not require any special client networking software on your PC – only a web browser (and every PC comes with one of those free these days!). You will have complete access to the SiMS application over your office Intranet or if you are at home or out of the office via the Internet.
Are your clients pressuring you for better access and information on the progress and cost of their jobs? Why not give them limited but secure access over the Internet? Its only a matter of time before they ask anyway. If you don’t do it your competitors will.
